Version history

Every time you save an AgentFlow, Flowera keeps the previous state. Version history lets you see what the flow looked like before a change, who made it and when, compare versions, export an older one, and bring it back — without losing anything you did since.

It works like the version history you know from Google Docs: a panel on the right, a read-only preview of any past version, and a Restore that creates a new version rather than deleting your recent work.

Opening the panel

Two ways, both on a saved flow:

  • click the version badge (for example v7) next to the flow's name in the canvas header, or
  • open the header's settings menu and choose Version history (on a phone: the settings drawer → Version history).

The panel lists every version, newest first, grouped by day in your time zone. Each entry shows:

What you seeMeaning
v7, or the version's nameThe version number, or the note someone gave it
Time · author · sourceWhen it was saved (your local time; hover for the full date), who saved it, and whether it came from the canvas, an agent working through the MCP (with the tool it used), an import, or the system baseline
CurrentThe version the flow is on right now
Restored from v3This version was created by restoring an older one
+2 nodes · 1 changed · +1 connectionA one-line summary of what changed compared with the previous version. A node that only moved on the canvas counts as moved, not changed

Turn on Only named versions to see just the versions someone has named. The unnamed saves between them collapse into a single row you can expand.

Changed by narrows the list to who made the change. The menu lists everyone who has ever changed this flow — you, the agent working through the MCP, and each workspace member by email, with how many versions each made — so you pick from that list rather than typing an address. Pick several at once ("mine and the agent's"); Everyone clears the filter. Both filters combine.

Previewing a version

Click any entry and the canvas switches to a read-only preview of that version. A banner under the header tells you which version you are looking at and which one is current. While previewing:

  • the canvas cannot be edited — no dragging, connecting, deleting, pasting, or adding nodes, and Save is disabled;
  • double-clicking a node opens its settings read-only, so you can inspect prompts and inputs;
  • the test chat is hidden, because it always runs the current flow, not the one on screen;
  • ◀ / ▶ step to the previous or next version (← / → on the keyboard while the banner is focused);
  • Exit (or Esc) returns you to the live flow, exactly as it was saved.
note

You have to save or discard unsaved edits before previewing a version — the preview replaces what is on the canvas, and leaving it reloads the saved flow.

What changed

The canvas always highlights what the previewed version changed compared with the one before it (the markers load a moment after the version itself):

  • nodes added in this version get a green outline and an N badge;
  • nodes changed get an amber outline and an M badge — hover it to see which inputs differ;
  • connections added in this version are drawn thicker and dashed;
  • nodes and connections removed in this version are listed in the banner (they are no longer on the canvas to highlight), each marked D.

A counter such as 2 of 5 changes with ▲ / ▼ arrows jumps the view from one changed node to the next. A node that only moved position is not counted as a change. If only the flow's name or its settings changed, the banner says so instead.

Restoring a version

To go back to an earlier version, open it in preview and click Restore this version (also available from the ⋮ menu of any entry in the panel).

Restoring never deletes anything. If you are on v7 and restore v3, Flowera creates v8 with the same content as v3 — v7 stays in the history and can be restored too. The confirmation dialog:

  • tells you the new version number;
  • warns you if someone else saved the flow while you were previewing;
  • warns you when the version's embed and share settings or rate limits and API overrides differ from the current ones, because a restore replaces those too;
  • lets you add an optional note explaining why.

After a restore the canvas shows the restored flow live, and a message offers to Name this version right away. Restoring a version whose content is identical to the current flow changes nothing.

Naming a version

Give an important version a name so it stands out in the list — Before Instagram launch, Routing v2 that worked. Choose Name this version from an entry's ⋮ menu or from the preview banner, type the note (up to 500 characters) and save. Named versions show the name as their title, and Only named versions filters the list down to them. Clear the note to make the version unnamed again.

Naming a version does not create a new version or change the flow.

Exporting and duplicating a version

From an entry's ⋮ menu (or the preview banner):

  • Export this version downloads the version as the same JSON file that Export Agents produces for the live flow. Credentials, passwords and uploaded files are left out, exactly as they are from a normal export. The file can be loaded into any flow with Load Agents.
  • Duplicate as new flow opens a new, unsaved flow with that version's content — the easiest way to branch from an old version without touching the current flow.

Which version an execution ran

The Executions list has a Version column, and each execution's detail view shows a v5 chip next to the flow's name. Click the chip to open the canvas in preview of that exact version — the graph that actually ran, even if the flow has changed many times since. A run that paused at a Wait node and continued after a save shows both numbers (v5 → v7).

Permissions

Anyone who can open a flow can read its history, preview versions and see the changes. Restore, Name this version and Export follow the same permissions as editing and exporting the flow, so viewers do not see those actions.
